Are You Having the Same Dream As Me
Are you having the same dream as me, Do you dream you are aboard the Titanic, And you have been focused on the Running of the ship, Marvelling at how smoothly she moves through the water. Your mood changes as you catch sight of icebergs ahead, And wonder if the ship should change course or slow down, You think of asking a crew member to get some reassurance, But you come back to the brochure which says the ship is unsinkable, And you go back to admiring the magnificence of modern engineering. Suddenly you are jolted out of your complacency as the ships momentum, Carries it smack into the mother of all icebergs. As the call to head for the lifeboats is made, You thank god that age has its privileges, And you are used to responding in a timely manner, When someone in authority asks for your co-operation, And the alternative is being trampled in a late rush, By those who can't read the writing on the wall, Or in this case the panic on the face of those in charge, When they realise they did not heed the danger signs. As your past life experience of life or death decisions, Drives you to take the ultimate leap of faith, And you are safely aboard a lifeboat. You catch a glimpse of those who stand frozen at the top of the railing, Not heeding the call to leap for their life. From the safety of your lifeboat, You catch a last glimpse of the demise of a dream ship, As the fog closes in, And feel only disbelief at how many fail in taking leaps of faith, When life or death choices need to be made, And how their lack of faith, Causes them to encourage it in others, Who look to them as role models. When another jolt brings you back to a world not so far removed from, One in your dream, You quickly check that you have proof of vaccination, As you never know when the last call for the lifeboats, Will be given. If you have the same dream, Do you pray that others will see the light, In time to bring more with them out of the darkness.
