Loneliness
Why is it that I whisper, to you, my reader strange, instead of talking, laughing, to those within my range? You can see the folly, of my words crafted here, I suppose that I seek company, but don’t spare me a tear! There’s nothing stopping me right now, from living with the faces, who contain, each, thoughts within, I seek now in their places! O men are strange and not like me and it causes me no end, of turmoil that upsets me so, and breaks my love of friend. Why do we seek each other, when so oft it ends in pain? Why bother with the quiet curse, and damp the soul with rain? I want to do good for them, but I don’t understand, for how can they find love for me, if hearts you can’t command? Please don’t think I seek control, I’d lose it anyway. Disillusioned by my passion, it is fear that holds most sway. It’s just I am so weak, and I don’t want them to know. What good will it do for them, or for me when I show, that though I seek what’s good and right, I find the task so strange. The heart cannot protect itself, nor those within its range. 19 December 2015
