To a Benevolent Soul
Just dried bread wetted in water for a whole month till you came From the other end of the land! Whom on earth am I to blame? Parents? Siblings? Friends or fellows? False professors and pupils? It's a holy jungle in which no animal you can tame. I still recall that beautiful, agéd girl of refinement* Who once, noting in me a spark of human love, or a flame, Nodded twice or thrice in wonder, talking to herself loudly That affection had not yet turned entirely into a name. Aye, that big bag of those canned foods you right away went and bought And left without taking a rest told me once again the same Old tale that God's eternal fire will for ever burn and glow In the midst of the moles and bats who love darkness without shame. By all you have sent me weekly for these years, time will defame The conscienceless quasi-humans when they're gone, up is the game. 11.11.'21 *The late Dr. Naheed Sarmad No comments, please!
