Butter Mother Learns Her Lesson
Butter was most gorgeous color of yellow the unicorns had ever seen. Many suggested she might grow to be Mayflower’s Unicorn Queen. Giddy mother told too many people who were jealous of her babe. Father told mother to simmer down about it; his name was Sir Gabe. Butter grew to be lovely with talents too numerous to mention. She became the grand marshal of more than one unicorn convention. Father was proud of daughter’s accomplishments, there were many. Mother was a dainty, prissy, girly unicorn. Her name was Penny. Penny and Sir Gabe argued about Butter often into the night. Sir Gabe liked his daughter the way she was, not girly, all right? Penny was inflexible and did not understand Butter’s ways. She wanted to change her daughter; stewed about it most days. Butter spoke to her mother as gently and carefully as she could. She calmly explained, "This does not make me feel good." Embarrassed, her mother apologized and agreed to try and do better. She knit Butter an adorable red and green I am the Boss sweater. Butter was never Mayflower’s Unicorn Queen, but her best friend was. Toast was girly and prissy, and had a mane full of gorgeous pink fuzz. Butter told her mother, “don’t’ worry, maybe my sister will be a queen. But sister became president of the WBA; queen was not her dream. Penny admitted that she wanted to live vicariously through her girls. She liked dressing them in pink and twisting their manes into curls. Admitted Sir Gabe’s idea of letting his daughters be who they are Truly helped them both become their own unique kind of star.
