Titanic
Global pride! Greatest story-theme worldwide! Oceanic! Voyage liner - Atlantic! British cruise ship! Titanic! Born in the yard of Harland and Wolf! Floated to venture! Who did ever dream of a deadliest wreck- adventure? Christened after Titans of the Greek mythology, great, Who overthrew the Olympians; determined their fate; Though each Titan, a theme of philosophical debate; Symbols of sovereignty! Lords of Laurel glory-gate! Liberally long! Spaciously stout! Hoveringly high! Her exuberant elegance swung in sea-lullaby! Lifeboat decks, like hi-tech car parks! Giant gymnasiums! Lounges! Palatial pleasure-spa-parks! Splendid stadiums! Mighty motors! Power plants, like city service stations! Crisis care compartments! Combaters of condensations! Gigantic rudder! Steam-powered super steering engines; Anchors! Ports! Like fine hearts with no more mutual vengeance! Dolled, day-dream-decked dazzlingly delicate decorations! Cozy castles! Flowery floating accommodations! Swimming pools! Steam and cool closures! Squash! Parlors of massage! Cuisines France, Italy, Turk - each continental package...! Tentative-tried, technicalities tallied, testified, When Weather-seasonal-temperature tests satisfied; Like a passionately proud peacock, she pierced the sea, A million onlookers witnessed the soap-tallow slip-spree…! Robust, rich rationales roaming in romantic gleams! Emigrant rustics, like rooster coops... filled with freedom dreams! Engineers, firemen, stockers, stewards, butchers, bakers... Each sealed with blazing aims, yet, silent like time-bound crackers...! What led - with such lustrous body and soul - Titanic fall? What command, mundane or divine, didn't go well at all? Whether the weakness, like handicaps of body, real? Whether it's, like scenes of tragic plays, sure yet surreal? Did the crew not know signs of the divine interventions? Or, like tough walls, the existence of rough ice-formations? When ships around, like guarding angels, signs many did send, The movements toward Ice Mountains! Did the captain ear lend? The Titanic said to herself: What would the ice-burg do? Speed is the strength; though not to compete; who's worthy to woo? Thither Titanic! What harm would these fog flakes ever cause? Chaff-like are all hardest crashes; no wreck will come to pass! Floating fluent! How could I perish? I am Themes, goddess! Bits of ice- dust dots will never harm even my bodice! Shaking them off, I'd change my tentative temper choices, Ice-blocks, like mist before sun-rays, will soon lose their voices...! With Titanic, the contented crew, like fools, did doom-dream, Mountainous Ice-rocks stood before them like Titan-tale-Team; Well-intended though, neighbor-ships, like day-owls, stood perplexed, Like fall of fools in hell-fire, painful plights they witnessed...! Trusting self-strength and will, and power – is ever known wrong? We, drowning in self-made blunders, could God's helps leave for long? Divine hands, like branches of trees, dwell around us ever, When losing ways, like wayward, do we hold them firm, for sure...? Forgetting the creator, could we go on creating? At our masterpieces, could we keep our master waiting? Well-wrapped, like cheap-gifts glitter packs, the core conceits we hide, Devoid of our great master captain, how long could we ride...??? 23 October 2021 A Noteworthy Ship Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Robert James Liguori
