Worst Enemy
Usually, I don't find the pen until I'm feeling blue, But those who have come before me said I should write when I'm happy too, Now at first impression, I didn't find this to be a difficult task, Until I got to trying it and my words had no pizazz. See, I had to throw that gesture in there just so you guys would laugh!! But let's get back to the subject at hand, The one where I thought I was truly a happy man. , why wouldn't I be? I mean I've been this way since I was a boy... I'd even find a way to smile when I got the girl happy meal toy. And for someone who's motto is "everything you do in life is a choice" I can't figure out why when I choose to call on my happiness, Do I always hear back from an unhappy voice? Hmm, well let's see if we can go back to the source, Back when mom was bumpin lauryn in the Ford Explorer, Ahh, yes, this is where my happiness was full force. Memories of mom and only glimpses of dad, First red flag to signal that this boy here is sad. Now let's move onto signal number two, When the boy gets used to people who say and never do. Like "didn't you say you were gonna take me to..." "Hold on, hold on, boy... can't you wait til this conversation through? If you ask me again we ain't going nowhere, so go'on now shew!!" Word? You just gonna shrug me off? I was supposed to be your little dude!! But now I'm older, the tables done turned, and if I do the same, it's considered being rude? Haha.. man... life can be funny you see? How? Ohh, well... I'll show you in just a second as we approach flag number three. Life is funny because it's just a globe filled with illusions. You got some people that care to be in your life, and others who are just making intrusions, with the direct or indirect goal to cause confusion, exclusion Using their meaningless words to fill you up with what proved to be toxic gas, Just doing no good for our issue of air pollution. If you haven't figured it out yet, I have a void within me. Look deep enough into said void, and you'll find flag number three. Just sitting there, shining and about as vibrant as could be. But don't stay there too long, or forever there is where you'll be. And your screams of CANT ANYONE HEAR ME?!?! Will echo throughout my chest, but will never break free. Because as a boy turns a man he realizes no one else is to blame for what has happened to he, And accepting these things about himself brings him closer to defeating his worst enemy. Me.
