Painting the Model of My Heart
I brush the paint into the cracks Like wax, it coats the plastic A steady hand, a steady eye Applied by shy fanatic While I wait for the paint to dry To the sky, I look and see Myself amongst the clouds so grey The day is spent dreaming dreams I dip my brush into the pot And blot thin paint into the seams The shade draws out the details fine Inside of me as well it seems The wash darkens the model down I’ve found my own shade within But to bring the pigment out Throughout the model once again I focus on the higher points Unvoiced, unheard were they thus far And now the darkest parts they make The great heights shine like a star I paint the base to tie it in A lynchpin it is for me A foundation for the rest Upon the crest of debris I take a step back and I gaze The greys make the colors true The darkness contrasts with the white Brings to light the reds and blues.
