That Fake Mask
Why am I wearing a fake "SMILE" MASK? If that's what you wish to ask Let me give you the perfect response Its pros far outweigh its cons Behind it, I feel safe and secure It seems to work great as a cure Surely, it serves a purpose, a goal when it hides broken & bruised soul It saved me in a million different ways When I was going through a gloomy phase When was the first time I used it on my face? Once the face began losing its "grace" The despair began its new cruel chase Captured me within its chaotic maze Took over all the good things in life It didn't even spare my innocent eyes It filled it with constant lies and smiles Attacked the mind, the natural highs Afterward, it reached the lips as well Struggles become the silent tell People started saying you look well Sure, those days were awful as hell When the mask is gone, the face feels free My inner beauty, you can see Do I take my mask off sometimes? Yeah! every day, before bedtime But as soon as the morning arrives with sun The mask announces its grand return It covers the nose, lips, and eyes Once again, I enter the world of lies The distance between real and fake expands The bright green turns into barren lands Earlier, the mask wasn't that desired Later, it became highly "required" The necessity evolved into love too soon Now the mask appears as a boon.
