On my home from work I called into Clancey’s Bar. Downed a couple of beers, then drove my car. But I was being waited on, so I didn’t get very far, before a blue light flashing made me an instant star. “Have you drank alcohol; please blow in this device”. “Yes I have had two drinks, and I promise no more”. The next few minutes I was shaking like a leaf. “You’ve given a reading and it’s point-o-four”. The relief I felt can be very hard to describe, but two more sips of beer; you can guess the rest. “You’re just under Sir, but you can’t go yet, have you taken any drugs; it’s time for a test”. What have I been eating? I haven’t been smoking, but I haven’t got a clue what they’re looking for. “Wipe this down your tongue and wait a few minutes”. While I waited, it seemed like an hour or more. And while I waited, I just didn’t know what to think. Did someone back in Clancey’s Bar, spike my drink, and as the seconds past, I could feel my heart sink, until the cop said “on your way, your test is negative”. The greatest lesson I learnt from this experience, is the not sure factor ‘til the testing comes back clear. So if you drive a vehicle and you’re on the road, never take drugs or even drink one beer, because you never know; you’re never sure; if there is any surprises, that are for you in store. So if you drive a vehicle and you’re on the road, never take drugs or even drink one beer.
