Tale of Turtle and the Snail
The turtle was slow, but his friend was slower He tried to be kind to his pal who was lower. His pace he slowed down until he was barely moving. His pal the snail was excited; his tail began grooving. Are you slowing down just to let me win? Snail would ask. Turtle did not want to fib, but he saw tears under Snail’s mask. I am moving as fast as I want to today, he told his sweet friend. He knew that being kind to a friend makes your heartstrings bend. His heartstrings were singing a song that day. They made him so happy, he began to dance along the way. Snail began to dance along with him down to the bay. They were merry and happy and jazzy and gay. You did a kind thing his mother said to him later. Turtle smiled and mentioned their friend alligator. Turtle said, my friend Alligator thinks he is slow too. Shall I walk along beside him and help him be less blue? It’s up to you his mother told him, but I am so proud. You are showing compassion, and you are not being loud. You are not bragging or telling others of your good deed. You are a fine example that other great turtles should heed.
