10,000 Days
We all want more but who thinks it all through? How many plans of greatness were mapped out then withdrew? For all want the spoils, but none the toil. Lacking patience and respect to tend to the soil. Can legacy be achieved with a swing of the sword? or the darkness of the unknown be safely explored? I’ve heard of grand tales; all have one key element. The great overcoming of the monster impediment. Did these heroes fight on for honor and glory? Or perhaps was something else embedded in their story? The 10,000 days of failure and struggle. Slow painful progress of layering the muscle. Tears of doubt, madness, and fears. Becoming so lovely when one volunteers. Channeling focus, smooth movements like grain. Forging the path of a brutal campaign. Yet gentle with others and always forgiving. Considering other viewpoints, no matter how chilling. Learning from others, a vastly useful tool. Far surpassing everything acquired in school. Then combines the rise of body and mind. The lessons and practice begin to align. The sword feels much lighter than before when you swung. Your mind has greater understanding than when you were young. Feeling so steady and learning control. Becoming the piece, the half, then the whole.
