Dear Me
Dear Me…                             Today my thoughts are about you, only you!                                                                     Many years have passed … many hustling days,                                             many dreamlike nights,                            You didn’t have time to ponder about yourself!                                   Now all of a sudden the day has come…                           crimson-hued sunlight, peeping through the window                                             at dawn fell on your face,                                You glanced at yourself, and wondered....                                                Is this the real me?                             Is this the little girl from a humming city, who                                   Fell in love with a tranquil village, and                            walked to school barefooted...because she wanted                             to be with kids who were less fortunate than her!                                     Is this the girl who wanted to write                               about the struggles of life she saw around her,                                and her proud dad read classics to encourage,                                            in his very little spare time! Hello you…have you accomplished the goals                             you spent many sleepless nights imagining?                              Have you checked off a few in your bucket list?                                      publishing books? Have you, any?                                     with all the poems you scribbled                                       in the wee hours of the morning?                                 What happened to the memoir you started..                                         reminiscing the stories of your                                          family’s turbulent experiences                                         after partition of the homeland! You loved writing letters - do you still?       real, handwritten ...I mean - not emails!                               Here is this cabinet - showcasing your artwork!                           Oh, there are some paintings as well on the wall -                                       how did you manage to find time                       in between bustling schedules of a teacher and a mother? Do you still enjoy watching cooking shows of                                     Michael Smith, and Laura Calder!                                          And rush to try out those                        finger-licking recipes! even share with your colleague                                                  the next day!             Aha! I remember your succulent French cuisine Mmmm, absolument délicieux ! You can definitely brag about the three kids you raised -                                     I believe you,  it was not easy!                             It was wonderful to have a chat, Dear Friend…             You have lived life to your best - dreamed, sang, danced, loved.... what more can we wish for?                               Love and Take care, until we meet again.
