Death
Death Hello my ugly friend You hang around until the end I see you standing at the gate Reluctantly you'll terminate When party goers leave the room In you sweep, like deadly broom To clear away my loved one's part Leaving memories and a broken heart Where once we danced, and sang, and ate The words unsaid, now all too late It is a shame, we knew you'd visit, I tap my watch, not that time is it? So, guardian of the other place With some regrets and tear streaked face I want to know, before the end What good advice you have, my friend? I've known you all of life, and yet You stayed away, we've rarely met. And now it seems a useful thing Before that final doorbell ring To chat and skip to final chapter Before we're whisked to heaven rapture I guess you'll say, you're part of it; This life we walk and waltz and flit And then advise to make the most, As there you sit with tea and toast, Not to waste each precious  glance. Each smile. Each laugh. Each kiss. Each dance. To take those moments. Raise the roof! I nod as if I knew this truth. And then you say, with solemn grin, How lovely to be welcomed in.. But time it ticks, and with regret, It isn't quite the right time yet So off I'll pop. You wave and say I will call round another day.. But just recall my words above And fill what's left with joy and love. For I remind each fragile heart That life is precious. From the start. Jinjagoliath 12th September 2021
