Chicago Five-F
Was it her or was it him? Was it the mixed signals of dixie, Or was it pure blooded Memphis? Was it fresh, matured, and promising, Or was it residues of childhood puppy love? Neither knew for sure, but it certainly felt right. Was it her or was it him? Was it Sioux Falls or Chicago? He was Black and she was White. It was short-lived but felt so right. In the summer of '69, Like magnet, They were pulled so close together By the magic of their love. He loved Her, and she loved him, but both He and she had to let go. Was it her or was it him? Was it San Juan or was it Chicago? She left on a jet plane, never knowing When she would be back again. They lost touch, And like a phone, Were disconnected. They ceased ever so suddenly, And their day turned to night; But it felt O so right. Was it Evanston or was it Chicago? Or was it the Mid-West Fever? Was it her or was it him? After long talks and walks on gentle summer Nights, they paused, and everything stalled. They didn't last, but it was so nice and felt alright. And then, there was you; And there was me. It was Menphis. It was Lake Winona. It was Lake Michigan. It was Sioux Falls. It was San Juan. It was Evanston. They all are now sweet memories. But there was more to you and me Than we ever knew. And 49 years Have come and gone, but we are Still here; you and me; still together. 090921PS
