In Quest of Immortality
I was! I am gone now. I did. I do no more. I spoke, and with a flow, but now, there is no encore! I have passed into silence, time has sprayed over me, a glazed layer of obscurity. photos remain of my visage, an album, with family too, but they have moved on, in their worldly quest, laying my memory to rest! My worth was their inheritance valued in gold and house, a few thoughts, a few tears, then they settled the score. Immortality was once my dream, of medals, awards and the rest, but in the blip of time realised, I was immortal through my deeds. a good gesture here and there, a loving hand to a few, books I wrote, lives saved, and my children who would be true. Can a passing cloud be immortal? or a flowing river claim to be? the cloud is immortal through the rain, that bathes and feeds the grain, a river flows through generations but is itself is born of the rain, flowers and crops they inundate, are immortal by their spray! Immortality is never of the self, but what is achieved in our time, a fruit is immortal by its seeds, and we by our good deeds!
