Films are thought up with their plots twists and stuff, football's in the moment, quick skill with some luck, it's not shady business with sly ways to corrupt, it's when thousands of people simultaneously erupt Competition not war, where we win lose or draw you watch and enjoy it then life goes on as before, united gasps of air when the opposition team score, then screaming come on there's still time on the board. There is nothing else like it, playing a nation when history was fighting, meeting new people not stereotyping, a game which leaves people the world over smiling Dreams never die, nor does our hope, we carry on for next time when our hearts are broke, defeat can hit hard but it teaches us cope, it's serious stuff that in hindsight's a joke Rules to our game, every person the same, I think without sport we'd be strangers again, we'd probably war and seek ill gotten gains, at least with our sport we live when there is pain
