A Song I Heard Last Night
Obviously seeing and experiencing something uninviting, several years ago my son said to me, 'This world is a terrible place". After sharing with me what he saw, I said, "That's not what I'm seeing". We saw the same world, differently. I was invited to listen to a song last night. Of all the lyrics, the tune, and the spirit behind the song, I cannot say what message the singers intended to send. But there was a clear and certain message that I received. I can only say that there were certain words that I notated. I don't remember the title but more importantly, that song had six lone words that resonated deeply with me, words that relate to us all. "We're ready", "Anger", "Hurt", and "Pain". I took away two questions which are, "Who among us has not experienced anger, hurt, or pain?". Who among us is ready to be relieved of the heavy burdens of that anger, hurt, and pain? Readiness is the key, and that song reminded me that I get angry sometimes, but I have never been assigned to an anger management session. I've experienced emotional hurts and pains, but I choose not to be a reservoir for them. There are rivers, dams, and reservoirs; and I choose to release to the rivers all the above that is harmful to me. Readiness to me also means that apart from God's Grace, alone, I am no match for the things that try to master me. 061821PS
