He Gave Her a Book
Breakup. Heartbroken, she wallowed in tears, Who'd love her now? One of her biggest fears; Her grandpa knew what she needed to find, Time to heal. A book to divert her mind; He brought her a gift the very next day, the book he intended for her. He'd pray; She tore the wrapper to find, "Not my will", A Christian love story, she was so thrilled; She started to read and couldn't put it down, Sometimes she smiled, sometimes she had a frown; From the treasured book, one thing she could know, Her God loved her, no one could love her so; His will was for her life to be broken, So she'd understand the words He'd spoken; She loved her grandpa for getting her through a troublesome time. No longer felt blue; The book he'd given, still cherished by her, Reads it often, what memories they stir! Today, she is married to her true love, No wonder, he's a dear gift from above; She holds the book close to her healed heart still, Her prized book always will be, "Not my will"; But she's not selfish, from grandpa she learnt to share it with others - "Read and return". 05.27.2021 For Mystic Rose Rose's "He gave her a book" contest
