Your World
Today I wake to see a lovely day, It's beauty and it's magesty unfurled. I know that Heaven is more glorious, But Lord above, I truly love your world. You didn't stint with color, form nor love, When you gave me this Earth on which to live; And if I rate it more than what's to come I pray thee Lord, my ignorance forgive. The fruiting trees, with their delightful gifts, Enticing me to stay another day, The gathered birds, preparing for a flight, Are more in touch than I am of the way We are to live, aware of the world's worth And then move on to Heaven's grand array. Is it such sin to long to linger here When I remember how it is in May? I would not leave when a new spring surrounds Nor when the summer breezes scent the air And in the fall, enthralling with its charms, I can't conceive that Heaven is more fair. When all the trees with winter's frost are pearled, Oh Lord above, I truly love your world. Joyce Johnson
