State of Confusion a Poem About Our Justice System
As I sit here bewildered in this state of confusion. Thinking this can't be our justice system, must be a twisted delusion. I am a truly good man, though I make my mistakes. I try to do right by people, whatever it takes. We all have our issues and many struggle with addiction. It comes in many forms and most have this affliction. I've seen people addicted to everything from drugs to church. And finding help or answers can be an endless search. Most doctors will agree and have deemed it a disease. So to have it would mean that you're sick if you please. So then how is it that a person can be punished for being ill? To have to do time in prison for taking a pill. Even in a courtroom where the accused seem to cower. Because the one they call Judge is addicted to power. The truth is that it's a money making machine. They're not concerned with your health or in keeping streets clean. What's even more crazy is that they pick and they choose. People go to prison for pot but can freely buy booze. I am a man of moderate education, yet I can see the damage that's done. And as things stay the same, it's obvious that nobody has won. Am I the only one that can see that this is being handled all wrong? Or is it what we say doesn't matter and I was right all along.
