A Confession
I have to confess that I often arrange to meet you somewhere then stand in a different spot and wait for you to show in the assigned place. Just so that when you look around and finally catch my eye, you have to walk towards me. I never tire of watching you walk. You walk like no one else on earth. Floating along like invisible angels are gently pulling you gliding. One elegant leg in front of the other perfectly placed; In balance. Your head barely moving amid the sea of bobbing staggering, trudging, plodding mortals. Occasionally you turn your head; and pull your mirror face as you catch your reflection in the window of a store. You gently pat the back of your hair before returning your gaze to me. Your back straight your shoulders back. I imagine you are squeezing a peach between your shoulder blades to keep them perfectly aligned. The juice slowly running down your back ending in a place that later I will brush with my lips and taste The sweetness mixed with your own salty dew. If I'm lucky and the sun is low the light will shine through your linen dress. Then I will see your beautiful legs from top to bottom haloed in a shining light. When we meet, link arms and go on our way I know a thousand green-eyed monsters stare me in the back. Published in the collection "Found Proverbs" by Poetry Choice
