Recovery
Recovery is something that takes time It doesn’t take a singular day Recovery takes effort and a support team But how are you supposed to cope without these things? If these are so crucial for recovery, how are you supposed to get better? Those days struggle into nights; Those nights struggle into uneventful mornings Everyday feels the same, any progress that has been made remains unclear Wake up; experience pain and unhappiness all day; go to bed This repetitive cycle lingers on until eventually you sit there wondering Who is she; this ball of anxiety and depression that I’m looking at You begin to miss who you used to be, and miss the body that you used to have You no longer have any interest with being around friends and family Because you are embarrassed of the person that you have turned into You try to reach out and get the help you need, but nothing you hear is what is needed You begin to sense the frustration of your loved ones, and the suffering you put them through You feel guilty; you begin to question your existence… Then slowly, things start falling back into place Little things happen that make each day a bit better You begin to realize that there are people there to help you You find that one person who is more patient than the rest; one who genuinely cares You’ve found the support you’ve needed this entire time All that you’ve longed for is to be listened Finally, someone is listening and you feel understood
