The Colors We Can'T See
How sad it must be to see only the grey. To wish colors would visit their eyes one day. And not just colors but shades of light. To discern when it's dusk or evening or night. To see a hillside with flowering meadow birds in flight, or a violet shadow. The beauty they're missing because of their plight: they were born with eyes that will never know sight. But an amazing phenomenon occurs, which we can't see: they paint their own colors like they wish them to be! They may call one color blue, or possibly red, but they're colors unknown they've created in their head. Just imagine, for a moment, if we were given a brush and told to paint new colors; would we go in a rush To study nature begging it for a hint of color, we've missed, of an unusual tint. We couldn't do but they've mastered the trait. Theirs is a colorful world they've helped to create. Oranges and greens and purples aren't there; not on their palettes, but those in the air. We would like to glimpse their colors wild and free But those are the colors we can't see.
