The Missing Brain
This was some nightmare... I’ll bet I’ve never told you folks about the wildest nightmare I ever had, and how the darn thing actually changed my life. It came while I was fast asleep ( I know that’s fairly common), Yet I was saying crazy things…according to my wife. When I awoke, she told me, “Howard, I’m convinced you’re crazy!” I looked at her and said, “Now, honey…that’s not nice to say.” “But, dear, it’s true,” she snapped at me. “I wish I’d had a camera. I’m going out to buy a pair of single beds today.” “Single beds,” I cried in shock, “hey…that’s a little much. I only had a silly dream. A lot of people do.” “Yes,” she said…“but not like this one. It was just amazing. The trophy for the weirdest nightmare now belongs to you!” “What precisely do you mean by ‘weirdest nightmare,’ dear?” I calmly asked as I sat down beside her on the bed. (I guess I’m simply going to have to take her on her word For all the things she claims I did…and told me that I said.) “You were screaming, ‘Give it back…before I break your neck.’ And…‘You’re not going anywhere until I get my brain.’ Well, I don’t think you ever got it back, to tell the truth… And no one acts and talks like that unless they are insane! You were thrashing violently and screaming like a fool, ‘Can’t you see…without my brain…there’s no way I’ll survive.’ Well, I’m convinced you lost your little war…by what I saw… And I am just astounded that you’re actually still alive!” I was quite perturbed by what she told me I had done, And couldn’t believe I’d actually said the crazy things she’d claimed, But when that nosy neighbor lady, in the next apartment, Dropped her little bomb on me, my mind was just inflamed. “Hi there, Howard. How are you? What a lovely morning. It’s always nice to see the sun, but we could use some rain. Tell your wife I know a place where single beds are cheap, And, Howard, dear…for heaven’s sake…I hope you find your brain!” PS: I've now got 4 new Audio-CDs - @ 4 1/2 hours each = (62 diversely varied pieces).
