Sometimes She's Okay
She lost her father that day She tripped over her laces As she knelt to pray She just couldn’t bring him back I picked her up that same day I took up my pen I began to write as I realized it was the same song Held with in a familiar story She sat up right today Worried that I wouldn’t stay A happy-less joy, she smiled She held on like a curious child I seem to keep bringing you back To nowhere particular you seem to roam I see you once more left home I’m sorry you had to do it alone I left my worries behind Stepped out of my insecurities And made you mine She lost her father that day But she found me And this city of ruins In which we lay As a child I washed my hands in dirt She told me it wouldn’t hurt As she took a pail of water She cleansed my eyes
