Thorda-Dum-Dum-Dum
Simply an exercise in rhyme, inspired by the unique 1950s & 1960s be-bop tunes I grew up with - though it failed to help my cause - “Thorda-dum, thorda-dum…thorda-dum-dum-dum,” was the chorus of the song that I asked Wolfman Jack to play the night I drove my ’57 to the back of “Sleepy Acres,” and waited ‘til the moment was - “just right.” And as the song was playing…I sat up and peeked around - confirming there was not a soul in sight - Then, in the quiet solitude, I slid across the seat…with just the moon above providing light… And slightly upped the volume on that old romantic tune, foolishly suspecting that it might Warm the heart of Peggy Sue - a chick I thought was “hot” - but had no more than pulled against her tight, When I discovered how a girl that - “doesn’t want to do it”…will, if - sadly…she decides to fight… Knee you where the sun don’t shine…slap you pret’ near silly…kick an’ scream like hell…and - even bite! After Peggy’d broke my nose and - walked clear back to town…I knew that what I’d done was not too bright… And when my buddies asked me if I’d gotten what I wanted…… with two black eyes - I had to say…“Not quite!” PS: I've now got 4 new Audio-CDs - @ 4 1/2 hours each = (62 diversely varied pieces). They’re listed on EBAY - under - “Mark Stellinga Poetry” - or available by simply contacting me at -- mark@writerofbooks.com -- should those of you who enjoy listening to poems as well as reading them - and particularly those of you that travel - care to be so entertained.
