Once I Loved You
Once I loved you, through sunlit passions' myopic gaze, when beauty burned deep in this fervid breast, and envisioned desire beamed bright past the haze, within my longing fire, to put my pain to rest. Tender touch, on vexing brow, your fingers pressed, as trouble of the day, in my brain, deeply weighs. Your perpetually cool temper, my emotions now test; once I loved you, through sunlit passions' myopic gaze. In blazing dawn, past darkened dusk, together always, until, at length, in winter's cold her heart's unrest led her astray; the cost, my soul, what price it pays when beauty burned deep in this fervid breast. Once I loved her; past wounded ego she pressed with subtle entreaty, my feelings set ablaze, only to be doused in her sea, unredressed, and envisioned desire beamed bright past the haze. My feelings were true as life passed crazy days, but I saw in her eyes her desire she repressed never knowing the depth of my need that she stays within my longing fire, to put my pain to rest. Once I loved you, with true love I professed before, your stone heart beat slow in malaise and broke me with screams of this love you detest on my knees, feel the pain, as your harsh tongue inveighs, ...once I loved you. 03/15/2021
