Little Ladybug: a Nursery Rhyme
I was playing in Mommy's flower garden and found a tiny red ladybug there She flew away, so I begged her pardon She came back and landed on my hair I giggled when she whispered in my ear, "Little girl, may I rest awhile with you?" Oh, my goodness! What did I hear? Can ladybugs talk? Can that be true? I nodded to her before I said, 'yes.' Then she crawled down onto my hand and told me she liked my polka dot dress. I said Thanks! Aren't polka dots grand? I hummed and asked her to stay for tea but it looked like she had fallen asleep. Then I heard her say, "No thanks. Not for me." She started crying. What had made her weep? What's wrong little ladybug? Why do you cry? I like your flower garden, and wish I could stay. Stay forever, I told her, and never say goodbye. I will be back tomorrow. Please don't fly away. March 10, 2021 Nursery Rhyme Contest Sponsored by Eve Roper
