My heart was breaking; I needed to split, home became a prison over the years. And if I was to survive on my wit, when I fled home, I left behind my fears. My youth was more confused than it appears, yet; I valued it more than I'll admit. Fate pierced my heart like a thousand spears, though I knew of love, I never felt it. All my life, I have felt like a misfit, having never received applause or cheers. Any semblance of love felt counterfeit, for kisses didn't exist, only tears. My father was drowning his woes in beers, he was a war vet and a hypocrite. And hung around with hardcore volunteers, when I wasn't running, I was being hit. My drunken old man made me feel unfit, anything I'd say didn't reach his ears. So when I cried, he didn't give a sh*t , and when he beat me in front of my peers, I left behind my fears.
