~stealing the Summer~
I have witnessed the dullness grow stealing warmth from sky’s blue hue, so hoary fist grips land below, turns the leaves into maelstrom brew. Stealing warmth from sky’s blue hue when darkness comes a shade too soon, and breath is hung like web trapped dew beneath the gaze of harvest moon. So hoary fist grips land below while skeletal oaks seem to shake as if there’s something they should know, a dance in which they must partake. Turns the leaves into maelstrom brew like kittens escaping their fear, and carried on a forlorn mew the plaintive cry of “winters here”. ***This is a Retourne; The retourne is all about repetition. It contains four quatrains and each line has eight syllables. The trick is that the first stanza's second line must also be the second stanza's first line, the first stanza's third line is the third stanza's first, and the first stanza's fourth line is the fourth stanza's first. Retournes do not have to rhyme.
