Don'T Quit Before You Hear the Sound
It had not rained for more than three years, And there was neither sight nor sign of anything like rain. Elijah said to the king, "I hear the sound of the abundance of rain". He then told his servant to go look toward the Mediterranean Sea. Elijah's servant returned and informed him that he did not see anything. Elijah further demanded that his servant continue going for seven times. On the seventh time, his servant reported seeing a cloud like a man's hand. Seven is a holy number that often represents completion or divine fulfilment* In The OT, the 7th day was The Sabbath to which God's instruction was, "Keep it Holy". In The NT, The Lord Jesus Christ is the very essence of Holiness, and He is our Sabbath Rest. For me, Elijah's use of seven had less to do with numbers and more to do with "Endurance". Elijah heard something, and he was not in a quitting mood until he actually saw what he heard. I sense 'a sounding' all around. May we like Elijah, never be in a quitting mode, but with opened ears and bended knees, may we listen for 'the sounding' of the abundance of 'spiritual rain' upon our nation and world. . 022521PS*crosswalk.com 1 Kings 18:43
