Damon Meets His Angel
Damon did not think he had any goodness left to give But Angela discovered a flash of compassion in his eyes He turned away, feeling undesirable and undeserving. An ethereal touch on his arm was a gift from this tender angel. He looked up into her light blue eyes and fell deeper than deep. Her skin was alabaster; she looked like a freshwater mermaid. Her smile lit up the bar, and set his heart on forever after. You don’t want to talk with me, he said. I am too mean for you. A tittering giggle escaped her, and he could not stop looking at her lips. They were spread wide. She was fearless, wild for a gift from heaven. Seriously, the old cowboy said. I am the devil, you can do better. Tell me your story, Angela urged him. I want to hear it. Damon’s face turned more rugged which she did not think possible She laughed again, which concerned him. He was usually scary, right? His wall mask almost slipped, but he caught, it, trying to frighten her off. She could not be frightened though, being from heaven and all. Are you by chance a country girl? He asked her, hoping to aggravate. Her eyes were dazzling globes now. She nodded, her hand to his neck. Do you have brothers? He asked her. He was starting to feel less evil. No, she admitted. Is this bothering you? Boy, was it!
