Paralyzed
The black clouds filled with thunderous rain, Tore through the fields below. Grass once covered with colorful blooms, Now wilted from the murderous pour. Lightning flashed from above, Lighting up the night sky. The tears covering her cheeks, Glistening in the night. The wind howled from all around, Blowing away with the happiness she once held. The sea waves crashed along the shore, Against the jagged shards of her heart. Her body felt numb to the cold chill across her skin, Her eyes unmoving from the scene before her. Her body was paralyzed in its place, Her heart shattering piece by piece. She barely felt the warmth from the red liquid, As it trailed slowly down her head. She barely heard the wail from the sirens, As they closed in on her. Unmoving she stared at the scene before her, At the bits of metal that still lay in the street. Unmoving she stared ahead, At the figure that once sat beside her. One blink and her mind caught up with the world. She heard the sirens, She felt the blood, And she felt the pain. Her heart shattering piece by piece, She felt the tears stream down her face, As she watched her love drift away, Right before her eyes. January 24, 2021
