My Pterodactyl Pet
As a kid I had a big imagination and created a pet with wings a tiny Pterodactylc bird the size of a sparrow . . . Squeaky was my very best friend I could put him in my pocket when I did my homework Squeaky sat on my desk (oh, no one else saw him, I thought) I fed him yummy bugs I caught but oh, one night he ate my homework while I slept . . . the next day the teacher was mad (!!!) where is your homework Miss (?) gulping- I whispered the whole truth and nothing else . . . that my pet Pterodactyly friend ate all my homework for an nighttime snack (!) obviously that did not go well ~ so, I took Squeaky out of my pocket putting him on my school desk he stood there for a moment looking around bewildered then, he flapped his wings- shot some flames into the air and flew around the room squeaking . . . . while everyone ran out the door _ ______________________ January 18, 2021 Poetry/Free Verse/My Pterodactyl Pet Copyright Protected, ID 01-1321-948-18 All Rights Reserved, 2021, Constance La France Written for the Standard contest, '...and then a flaming pterodactyl ate my homework' sponsor, John Lawless, Judged 02/25/2021 Thirteenth Place
