What Mary Had
Mary had a little lamb, everyone knows that's true But Mary loves all pets so, she’s added on a few. What Mary Had Mary had a little frog, he went with her to school Teacher said he can't come in, for it's against the rules. Mary said he's no bother, my frog's eager to learn You may think it's kind of odd, he’s good I can confirm. So teacher said he could stay, If he vowed not to croak And didn't go jumping lessons, ‘cause that would be no joke. Mary's frog was good as gold, at both his work and play Doing all that he was told, till bell rang - end of day. It scared Mary's frog to bits, he croaked with eyes bulging Went hopping o'er all the desks, kids in fun indulging. Teacher chased him out the room, Mary cried floods of tears They couldn't find him anywhere, her frog had disappeared. ******* Mary had a little dog, that barked by night and day Everywhere they both did go, her friends all ran away. Mary wasn't happy, so she shouted this advice Please don't go my friends, his barks worse than his bite. So her friends came running back , Mary was no more alone Everyone had so much fun, they gave the dog a bone. ******* Whilst Mary was sat moping, she thought she’d heard croaking Her and dog went to the woods, they found the frog soaking. Glad to have got back her frog, same for the dog and lamb Mary was feeling quite chocked, they all opened the dam. Mary, lamb, dog and the frog, were happy with their lot With a hum, baa, bark and croak, they sang a jiggy jog. ******* Mary grew up and her thoughts turned to falling in love In her dreams a Prince would appear out the sky above. Then Mary met Harry, who at first was kind and nice All were well and happy, till he became bane of life. He said if she loved him so, all of her pets would go “If you loved me, you would share” Mary cried, full of woe. Mary told Harry to leave, to let her life be blessed So mad he took all her pets and left them at the vets. Mary was beside herself and said she wasn't happy If at all she should marry, it'd not be to Harry. ******* Mary met a man named Stan, who came from Birmingham Bought themselves a nanny goat, to make life easy for Stan. Thought it would keep the grass shorn, to save the idle bloke The grass got stuck in goat's throat, the end of nanny goat. Also end of Stan the man, sent back to Birmingham Got her pets back and vowed there'd be no more men like Stan. 15th January 2021
