Knowledge
Cold winds rattle the thin bare branch the robin adjusts its body, feathers ruffle and open just a little yet the bird gives no attention to this balancing act. It is a wind-sailor, just as much as an ocean-going albatross, though it travels in groups within large puddles of sky. Other robins land on the chill earth below its branch. You might think that the robin on the branch would join them. I wait for that to happen. I’ve read that flock behavior is predictable. Of course if you watch robins long enough you would note that they perch, stand, and fly anywhere, and they don’t read.
