It is silent here. Except for the water. I hear people talking way off in the distance. Too far away to make out what they are saying. Then glorious silence. I have not been back since the funeral. I am glad the house has sold, but I will miss this. It was worth the drive to see it one last time. The house holds little appeal, but this is my childhood brook. The memories of this brook have saved me over and over. Knowing it is my last time to see her, I sit for a long time.
