Silent Struggle
I see the faces that I pass every day The stressed parents watching their kids play So much innocence in the kids eyes The energy of life that comes from all of their smiles And yet the pain they dont know And the struggles they dont see Is kept away from them Parents wont let it show, They wont let them see They dont hear the parents cry Because they need a food bank to get by The queue is full of people that shouldn’t be there The air is so thick with their sadness and a feeling of failure A sense they have lost their sense pride which for which they hold dear But when they get home to the hungry little brood All happy to see you, that changes your mood You feel the smile start to appear And it reminds you the best place is right here For all the troubles we are all feeling, The ones that are with you all day You think you cant shift them They wont go away. Just take a look at your child’s smile And keep this thought in your mind. You made this beautiful person In a time now behind You have taught them your love You have taught them to be kind You have their love and a sense of pride So hold your head up high Push your chest out with pride You have done well my friend So enjoy the ride
