Never Stopped Wishing
She came into the church with her eyes hung low Not allowing any of us more than a glimpse of her well-built wall Sat in the pew in her white dress, moving rather slow I had an inkling of who she might be, but was not sure at all I knew she had been through a lot, a horrible ordeal they said. I said some prayers for her soul, but did not stop or stare Clandescently sequestered, she looked down at the hymnal red. I felt Jesus put a hand on my shoulder, and give me a dare. But I was too frightened of her emotions, I felt a kind of fear. I knew she was His child, and I wished I had been brave. But when I looked back, she was gone, this simple sweet dear. I shuddered as I thought of how close she had come to the grave. One thing for sure, this encounter changed me that day. I am much more apt to go answer Jesus’s call in the air. Because I have never stopped wishing I had found a way To ask her how she was doing, and let her know that I care. Written 12-18-2020 Contest: A rhyme story poem with eyes Sponsor: Mystic Rose Rose
