Be Exceptional
She just turned 20. He turned 20, six months prior. He turned 21, nine months ago. Jill, Jack, and Bill say that they are grown. Sometimes, "I'm grown" is their response to me when or if I question or challenge certain actions or behaviors. And I ask myself, "What does 'being grown' really mean?" Is it 'a right of passage', or a ticket to tomorrow's bliss? Is it a chronological number amassed in self-will and muscle mass? As a father and grand father, I have more questions than answers. I am also rather opinionated and a bit free to disseminate opinions. Without further questions, perhaps a little wise advice might suffice. Acknowledge God; honor your parents; respect yourself and others too. Education is its own reward; so favor yourself and get a good education. A degree is great, but you'll need to obtain it the old fashion way; earn it. Be sure to invest in a rapidly disappearing product called 'common sense'. Several months ago, I spoke rather pointedly to a friend of Jill. Phil, like Jill, Jack, and Bill, is 'grown', but I gave him my not-so-humbled opinion anyway. I was rather heated and felt the need to make the point very clear and plain. I said two words I pray he never forgets; I said to Phil, "Be exceptional!". 120320PSCtest, Your Advice To The Youth, Edward Ibeh. 4P
