A Christmas Letter
Dear Lord As a child, every Christmas I longed and prayed to you for a new bike that never came. I was 19 when I received my first bike. That was when I learned the value of patience and timing. I learned patience in having to wait so long, and timing because I bought it for myself when I needed it most. Lord, you knew that the need for patience and the understanding of timing were much greater gifts than a bike. As you very well know, in the eyes of most, this is not the best of times, nor is it the worst of times. In one sense, it could be called the better of the worst and the worst of the better. I don't know if I said that right, but you know exactly what I am feeling and saying. But I'm not really writing you to simply express my feelings about problems here and there. I'm thinking about a gift you gave to the world on that first Christmas night in Bethlehem. Multiplied millions have accepted your gift, and the word is spreading to reach even more. I received your gift more than 50 years ago, and no gift has been more treasured and appreciated. I tell you Lord, that gift is like the gift that keeps on giving, the seed that germinates year after year. I can't imagine how many people with whom I have shared the gift in multiple ways and places. Lord, remember the saying, "If it's sounds too good to be true, it probably is?" No so with your gift. It's the most precious and valuable gift I've ever received that's too good to be true, but it is true. Lord, I must say that I am feeling much compassion and empathy for so many others who have lost so much this year, and I offer up to you a special prayer for them. For example, those who have lost loved ones due to the virus, fires, hurricanes, civil unrest around the world, accidents, suicide, drug abuse, police actions, and police fatalities; just to name a few. Father, would you please comfort them in their grief and restore them in their losses? And one more thing, Lord. I pray that you would enrich all of our lives, not with things, but with so much gratitude that "THE MERRY" in this Christmas will not go missing, but be THE GRANDEST of them all. In the name of your son and my savior Jesus Christ. Amen. 112320PSCtest, Christmas, Regina McIntosh. 5P
