The Sinking of a Titanic Ego
The Sinking of a Titanic Ego! The oil slicks still present though his ship’s deep-six, mind’s pollution disaster, scum’s scourge on high seas, the weird child of George Orwell, George Wallace, “BAD” Shane! (1) Wonks filled truth full of lead, he give 'clap' to world’s pain; for ‘conservative’s base,’ all black lives are disease (and black deaths all that matter), rape’s good for white chicks! Who loved song band played as Trump goes down, blows ‘friends?’ - “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night?” (2) And all’s Right with night’s passing, what’s Left hopes for Grace, though a sadness fills ‘Mudville,’ (3) the tears caused by race, hate of brothers, of sisters, dismissed in their plight who are raped by relations (which no faith defends!) How fitting an iceberg of feeling sinks lies (that we all did endure), heard as COVID persists though “a vaccine is coming,” lives lost from no masks, as the middle-class flounders though wealth (4) gets most ‘asks.’ Was Trump vampire or zombie? Mitch Moscow insists our tomorrows look brighter, Rightwing’s paradise! Long Tooth November 10th in 2020 Poet’s Note: (1) Shane is the stereotypical hero of a classic western film called “Shane,” which makes Christ into a reluctant warrior who kills bad guys. This 1953 film starring Alan Ladd has long been one of my personal favorites. (2) The last line of the iconic American poem, “Twas the night before Christmas.” (3) The ubiquitous ‘hometown’ in the poem “Casey at the Bat!” (4) Hey, bailouts for the rich are GOD’S will, not socialism!
