Ambedo
Morning walk by the seashore~ I was here some twenty years ago; Could this be the same sand where I used to walk on with nothing but rainbows of seashells in my mind? This could be different sand, I deem. Yes, it could be different now~ Different sand but still as creamy as it used to be; Pebbles and shells came and washed away by the ebb; The old sand, where did it go? But the new sand is here... Is it the same as the one I used to build my sandcastles? My eyes are hooked on the empty lonesome shell... Where would it have been? Still beautiful though life inside ceased~ Still glistening at the kiss of sunrise. But some shells changed their hues, some lost their luster, some smoothened by the constant friction of the sand, some used by other creatures as dwelling places. Obscure quests enshroud me as the morning sun bathes the shore; I put the empty shell on my palm, feel the bliss of serene vastness of sky and ponder on my most vulnerable moments. Why we, humans are devoid of shell? Why we don't have rainbow-colored skin? I wish a shell grow in us~ so we could give shelter to the roofless folks should we finish our race... Why lies inside us the hardest core? As the wave ripples upon my bare feet I look back to where I've been~ My footprints were washed away by the tide; And as the tepid water goes up on my knees I throw the empty shell to where it should belong. And the rising tide takes the shell Until it fades in my eyes. My quest now clear~ Yes, the shell is just inside us to shield us~ should our innermost chancel~ be hit by truculent arrows; The shell is just inside us for us to feel more with our human skin for we are here~ to touch and to grow.
