Last Minutes Angst
Glued to calendar-marked days --- drawing nigh alerted that without wings, time does fly… I just exclaimed an ambivalent sigh since this year is about to say good bye. Recalling deadline angst of gruesome woes that once attacked my soul with panic blows… how I yearned for sweet calmness to enclose keeping me safe from chaotic rush-flows. Engulfed with schedule, encircled in red being gripped by own “achievementless” dread… I confessed lack of wit to plan ahead admitting slothful and vain leisure tread. Resolving to savour treasured moment and leave legacy of life’s fulfillment… I prayed for God’s wondrous empowerment staying joyous in His blest engagement. To overcome struggles along life’s race competing with self for perfection trace I relied on Christ’s firm uplifting brace experiencing --- in each pursuit --- His grace. Oh, my heart, then assured with victory bounced back from pain of failure’s misery through the Saviour’s second chances’ dowry to yield love-propped accomplishment story. Hence, I still persist to do utmost best trusting the Lord* amidst trial or test reaping good success of service harvest… while putting my all with last minute zest. *Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. November 3, 2020 2nd place, "Ambedo" Poetry Contest Sponsored by Silent One; judged on 11/5/2020.
