I Tried Hard To Be Liked
I wanted everyone to like me I tried hard I smiled, was friendly, joyful. It worked until I was around four Billy Thompson hated me. In kindergarten Billy moved away. I tried hard to be loved by all. Sheila Bebos did not like me. I tried harder and harder and harder to win her over. Wanting everyone to like me. It did not work and it exhausted me. In junior high I was still committed to the like me game. Wanting to be loved by all. Some liked me, but others made fun of me, and were mean. After much of this, I did not feel loved by anyone at school or at home. I did not relinquish the “like me game” until I had my own children. When they were not liked by everyone I knew I had been mistaken. Everyone will not like you no matter how lovable you are. Because my children were so loveable they could dazzle your heart out. And some people did not like them. It was difficult watching them try harder and harder to win these people over.
