Martha, Martha
I rushed, and I cleaned, then I cooked, oh what nerve! She sat there near Him, and just let me serve. Losing my patience I stormed in with heat, "I'm working my hind' off, she sits at Your feet! Tell her to help me! Do You not care?!" He answered me gently, His eyes met me there. Filled with compassion, He said my name twice, Gentle and loving, though I wasn't that nice. "You are worried and upset about many things.." I thought in my heart, "And my aching feet sting" "...few things are needed-or indeed only one." Answered our guest, who was God's precious Son. "Mary has chosen what is the better.." I remember His words to each tittle and letter. I looked at His face, and of course felt disgrace, I was put in my place.... and I felt my heart stir, "... and it will not be taken from her." Had I but realized He cleans up the dirt, His words are like water and wash away hurt. He does not require my rushing and heat, He'd rather my heart, and to make me complete. Well, my work is all finished, millennia's passed. I rest in His presence, with peace that will last. She came to him and asked, "LORD, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" 41"Martha, Martha," the LORD answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, 42but few things are needed-or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." Luke 10:38-42
