After that, tit’s for tat, tat’s for tit, till you die. All connections have strings; we count knots that two tie! Oh, first peace might be softness and warmth (in a stretch) but I’d vote still for food that I don’t have to fetch and the fullness sleep’s waves show to shores of my greed. Are mom’s buying child’s stillness who pacify need with a breast in their mouth, not a walk in the yard, who won’t knead their child’s back, active touching’s so hard? It’s at this stage that pizza and beer find a role, but although they bring comfort, do they make you whole? Their gold-standard of currency adults confuse with a love of more value, forgetting to use God’s provision! We’ve surplus though starving, might share if we just looked around more and used what is there! Yes, it’s pizza and beer time for most of most lives. Anesthesia and spice shared with friends, grudging wives, I’m committed to you (if we don’t have to talk or know ways that we differ, a threatening walk)! Though I chose to love you, how to trust you’ll love me? Most think silence love’s gold; can love live if it’s free to express how it feels and demand lovers deal? God! Is Love that we own just the love that we steal? If you tell me you love me, is your word enough? How can my speech know trust if I’m sure yours is rough? Let me not steel my heart to your faults (though they’re there), and through mercy, true amnesty, show you I care! Long Tooth September 25th in 2020
