And then I’ll honour Elvis Presley ‘Love me tender, love me sweet’, The Golden star of rock and roll, a treat, The girls would scream He was their every dream, ‘Tell me you are mine…… Till the end of time’. Andrew Lloyd’s stage show ‘Phantom Of the Opera ‘The music of the Night’ Is such a beautiful song, which I sing with might, I have no fancy voice, but like to hear And sing it in the car, Whenever we go on holiday, And our journey is far! ‘Hard as lightening, soft as candlelight, Do you trust the music of the night’, ‘You alone can make my song take flight, Help me make the music of the night’ Leonard Cohen, another firm fave., For whom a lot did rave, He fell at home at eighty two and died, His music he strummed with pride, His greatest song for me, Which I often listen to with glee, Is ‘Dance Me to the end of love’ ‘We’re both of us beneath our love, We’re both of us above’ ‘Dance me to the end of love’. ‘Hey big Spender’sung by Shirley Bassey, ‘The minute you walked in the joint, I could see you were a man of distinction, A real big spender, Good lookin’ so refined, So wouldn’t you want to know What’s goin’ on in my mind” Wow what a powerful voice, what a legend, Had not choice, love her music, She had to be mentioned, Watched her show, came to Sun City, Now eighty three, then something over fifty. Herman’s Hermits and the song, Mrs. Brown you’ve got a lovely daughter, Walkin’ about, even in a crowd, Well, you’ll pick her out, Makes a bloke feel, so proud’ Next to us lived a Scots family and their son Peter used to serenade me often, great fun “Mrs Hunt you’ve got a lovely daughter’. This was early every morning, my dear father, Shouted, Peter, go back to bed rather! Wow, The Beatles, their music so modern Almost always top of the charts, The girls loved them from The depth of their hearts! To list but a few of the songs they sung, And so handsome and young, ‘Being for the benefit of Mr. Kite” They sung their songs at concerts, Many a night, ‘Please please me’ Can’t buy me love’ Parents asking, Heaven help us, From above, Our children addicted, From their first song, this was predicted! “Yellow Submarine” but my fave. is, ‘Do you want to know a secret, Do you promise not to tell’ For my secret was I love the Beatles as well! With Christmas round the corner I think Of Michael Buble and his Carols on Christmas Day, When families come together, children play, Joy, laughter, and faith is about, We imagine the poor and those without. As he sings ‘Santa Claus is coming to town’ A child asks his Mommy, can I give my teddy To that boy down the street, Who walks in Winter with bare feet? ‘What’s new Pussycat by Tom Jones who split, His pants on stage, they were so tight, The fans laughed and enjoyed that sight! Pussycat, pussycat, I have flowers, And lots of hours To spend with you, so go powder your, Cute little pussycat nose (whoa oh whoa), You and your pussycat eyes (whoa, oh whoa)! And finally I come back to Frankie boy and ‘Strangers in the night’ My husband and I were strangers in the night Who met at a wedding and fell in love at first sight, ‘Love was just a glance away “A warm embracing dance away, For strangers in the night’! Thank-you Frank Sinatra, that song, Must have been for us, and thank-you Cousin Mike for the flash drive, You downloaded so many songs, And we made some come alive!
