My Cause of Heartache
I'm embraced by a mist of gentle rain while my sad heart clings to a whit of hope that some day you will love me, once again, or I'd dare not wonder how I should cope. Your letter's still sealed in its envelope. My cold fingers fumble, quiver and shake, hands tremble to open and my lips quake. I fear to read in your words, what I dread that would be the cause for my heart to ache. With scarcely a breath, your message I read... "Today I heard a song and thought of you. Truth is, you've been on my mind for a while. When I heard the lyrics to 'Misty Blue,' I closed my eyes; on my lips was a smile. I don't have your number, so couldn't dial, but I'd like to see you, if that's okay. I never stopped loving you, by the way. If your heart will give me a second chance, I'll come to you, darling, without delay, to stoke the embers of love and romance." September 20, 2020 Dizain Poetry Contest Sponsor: Emile Pinet
