The Carousel Dance
Our bodies entwined, never stopped turning like the carousel after it has been brought to life, you awakened within me all that I had tried to hide Just as the carousel you made my light shine from within, and the colors that exuded from my eyes were all beautiful feelings from that time then That one precious moment that is still frozen in that time, when you held me inside of your arms as you looked into my eyes You led me in a circle just as the carousel goes round and round, and I prayed then that the euphoric feeling inside would never bring me back down If this was the joy that I had felt in my childhood days, from before love had ever entered my mind, then this is where I wanted to stay Knowing nothing but pure happiness and the joy so pleasing that you can’t help but smile, and the laughter from not being able to touch the ground no matter how hard you tried I never realized that I missed those feelings, I guess because I grew up, but you made me feel pure innocence again just from your gentle touch The way that you wrapped me inside of your arms I felt so protected, so loved, and I wish to feel that feeling again, but I guess I want it too much I didn’t revel in the moment then, I didn’t realize that I was living one of my most precious memories, and I would give anything in this world for one more dance with you, just so that I can hear your heart beat So that I can listen to the calliope notes that your heart would beat out to mine, the way that your heart was speaking of your love for me then back in that time You were my knight in shining armor on your white, painted horse, so beautiful, so unique, and I didn’t appreciate the memory then as much as I do now, I feel it now, so deep I want to relive the memories, I want to spin around in a circle with only you, I want to gaze into your beautiful eyes and believe that every word you’re saying to me is true I just want to go back; can’t we just rewind the hands of time? Can’t we press reverse on the carousel and that way your hands could still be entwined with mine? Can’t we spin in a circle so slowly, enraptured in one another’s embrace? Can’t we just let our hearts say to one another, the things that we were too afraid to say? Can’t we just stay here just a little longer, and just enjoy the view and the glistening of the light that is reflecting from the tears in our eyes? Can’t we just have one more spin before we eternally say goodbye? Can’t we just never stop this carousel from going round? That way there is no way that you can leave me, and I never have to be let down Can’t this carousel just turn until my heart bleeds no more? Can’t you just let me live in this dream where I can have what in reality, I can’t have anymore? Can’t you just kiss my lips, just gaze into my eyes? And spin me around in your arms once more, until I can find the will to say goodbye Can the dance never stop? Can the moment never end? Can’t we live like this for all of eternity? Until time comes to an end Can we just keep going on this magical carousel? The one that I rode with you back in that time, that my heart remembers so well.
